Yare

~
Yare: Responsive, quick to act on stimulus, ready.

Description of their sailboat by Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant in The Philadelphia Story. "My but she was yare!"

A sailboat is a vessel, something which can contain something, which is powered by a sail which creates a vacuum behind itself to get the wind to push it and the craft forward. It is steered by a paddle attached to a stick or wheel. It is stabilized by a keel, a heavy undercarriage which plunges down into the water. The sail is sustained by a long pole and has strings attached. I don't know why a sailboat is referred to as if it were female.
